      JAy Leno Toronado

Saw a wicked 1000 hp twin turbo Toronado owned by Jay LEno on a financial show on CNN today. I beleive it is at SEMA now.

Anybody get some pics or information on it, who built it, specs etc ?

It was down right one of the nastiest cars I had ever seen in execution and engineering.

There's a few pictures on the web if you do a search, but nothing indepth or worth while... or I would have posted something!

Looks bone stock on the outside, but has a special Projects GM Factory built motor under the hood, and I couldn't tell if it was a twin charger or turbo or what? And I can only guess as to the transaxle set up for the FWD? Not sure if they retained that or not? Only time will tell as it is at SEMA right now!

I was supposed to be there right now myself, but couldn't get a flight to fit my constraints.. Doh! (Next year!)

Hope to find out more on this beast soon!

Thief! He stole my idea! So what year is it? '66, '67? I've got a '66 just begging to be put under the P-T knife.

Not sure if it was a 67 or what, just know it was gold and wicked.

I hope it will be featured in some magazine soon, it was that trick looking under the hood.

I saw the car about a month ago at Leno's shop, but I couldn't say anything about it at the time. Now that it's at SEMA, I guess the cat's out of the bag. GM donated 2 Corvettes to the effort, and Leno's guys built the car. They must have worked around the clock for the past month to get it ready. It was only about 1/2 finished when I saw it. You're right, the car is rear wheel drive now. I recall that it has pretty awesome suspension, too. I didn't get a real good look, but I did see 4 wheel discs and Bilstein shocks. Hopefully somebody will post some buildup photos.

Sweet! It is a '66. Very, very cool, although I would like to see it slammed with some big forged wheels.

It's suppose to be the new Z07 7.0 liter vette engine. At least that what is being said on ls1tech.com

Don't let the look of the wheels fool you. They are a one-piece machined aluminum wheel in a much larger than stock size. Jay has the money and horsepower to have special one-off tire and wheel packages made. Plus, it sits much lower in person than what the picture depicts.

      FYI:

Not sure the link below will work, but autoweek, in its SEMA section, has some detailed pics of the car and specs. It so much more trick than meets the eye, Corvette chasis etc.

I am truly obsessed with that car--his daily driver.
