Now I'll start by saying the car is looking great and progress is coming along very nicely. It could be the pictures but maybe not. Your rear wheels don't look centered in the openings, you might want to verify that before you get too far along.

Yeah, you are correct... drives me bonkers. According to the guy building it, the DSE kit has gobs of adjustment, and we've just bolted everything in there at this point. That's next on the list before I order the drive shaft, etc.

The guy building it is Scotty Prater of Prater's Auto Restorations. Good guy and a really good paint and body guy. I should have some new updates coming soon! I'm just about done with the "box collecting" phase, and then back to installing stuff.

So as you can see, I've been firmly in the "box collecting phase". The guy putting this thing together for me said that if I could get all the pieces and parts in front of him, they could get it assembled pretty quickly. So... this

However, I did get some bling today that I was super excited about. I picked up some Dakota Digital VHX gauges, and man, these things look sharp! Can't wait to see them installed.

Simple you can do it. Move the bottom linKS of the quadralink to center the wheel in the opening. Tighten the lock nuts after that. Then move to the top linKS and adjust your pinion angle down 2 degrees. Wheel base should be 108" if I remember correctly. Lowest part of my car is the subframe at 3 1/2" exhaust hangs maybe 1/4 " below that.

Good to know it's easy; was hoping that's was the case!

Alright! All the parts have finally come in and I'm rolling on the car again. Started with the cutting and buffing of the body. That's almost done now. We also sprayed down some bed liner on the floor boards and the underside of the car for the durability (pictured below).

The next couple of weeks should be exciting. Our goal is to get the car done by the end of May!

Yep, I'll be using dynamat as well. I think most people when they hear bedliner think of it being laid down super thick (like 1/4 inch) - or at least that's what I thought originally - but this is just a really thin layer. It's a little thicker under the car than inside it, but still not what you see in actual truck beds.

Quick Friday update. The guys made some good progress this week. The motor and transmission are in and looking good! Loving the MGW shifter. Feels nice and solid and the shifts are short. Also got the 3rd member in and the brake assembly was going together while I was there. All that should be under the car by the end of next week. AND, the tape is all off, which is always nice.

Friday update! My builder warned me that the wiring phase will look boring, but there is actually a lot going on because of the tediousness of it all. Looks like a lot going on to me though! It looks like my car is puking wires!

Front and rear suspension on, gas tank about to go in, fuel lines going in, brakes getting situated, wires going everywhere... and of course, test fitting the gas filler neck and cover. I'm super excited to see this tail panel blacked out... hopefully they'll get to that next week.

Forgive me if this is out of line... but I think your front shocks are installed upside down. I believe those coil-overs should have the shock eye in the lower control arm and the spring coil upward, seated into the subframe. That way your spanner wrench can access the adjustable lower spring seat on the shock body.

You are correct sir! That's how DSE has you install them with this particular kit.

Quick, yet somewhat un-exciting update. The later part of the previous week, and all of last week, has been spent getting the car plumbed and wired. It doesn't make for great photos, but obviously necessary. I *think* we're about done with all that though, and it should get interesting to look at again.

We did push the car out in the sun to get a look at the paint, post buffing, etc. There was one spot on the paint that you could see in the paint booth that I was a little concerned about, and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be noticeable out in the sun. This entire project I've had to balance making the car nice, but without spending GOBS of money (which I've basically managed to do anyway). I've had to stress to my builder that I'm not trying to win any shows, and the car is going to get driven a LOT... but I do want it to be nice. Somewhere in there is a compromise. The cars that my builder is accustomed to building are over the top, rarely driven, show cars... which is great, it's just not what I'm personally after... so it's taken some given and take on both our parts. In this case though, we both agreed it wasn't worth spending more time (and potentially going way backwards) on. Looks great out in the sun!

I can relate entirely, I am approaching paint also and have the same mindset as you, I know the process will be costly but theres a limit to how much i'll be willing to spend, not just financially but also mentally, If paint snowballs and costs more than I'm prepared, I will be less likely to abuse the car as much as I plan to. The compromise now is something I will happily accept to enjoy my car without crying over stone chips etc. If my paint turns out looking as good as yours does in these few pictures, I will be very happy.
