      Barn Find

Well, one of my buddies heard of a car from a neighbor that some old lady had in her barn. Her (deceased) husband had bought it new and he died in about '94ish and it has been sitting in the barn ever since. So, he went and looked at it and it turned out to be a kind of cool car. A 55 Dodge Royal 2 door hardtop. It was last tagged in 93 I think and then parked, and covered! It was pretty cool to go and get with him, you walk into an old barn and there is a car with a tarp over it and hay stacked all around it, then you uncover it and it is freakin shiny!! SWEET!! So we jacked it up and put air in the tires and pushed it out and loaded her up. He gave her $2,500 for it, the original title and paperwork was in it and it said that they gave (I think) $2,300 for it new.
Just thought it was pretty cool and wanted to share! Here is some pics from my phone when we picked it up.
BTW-who makes wheels and spindles for that oddball thing?

That thing needs to be in a museum somewhere, lol. It's cool like it is. Some cars just feel right when they're scary to drive. Ok, maybe do some brakes on it.

It's hard to believe that stories like that still exist. Great find.

Nice find, that will be a fun car for sure.
My grand father had a 51 fleetline chevy and he has owned it for probably 40 years. I had forgotten all about it and he was talking of selling it and he said if i wanted it i could have it. Its got 24,000 actual miles on it. No idea when it was last in the sun. The oild change tag on it says 1963!! It still has the plastic on the seats.

Cool car i bet he will have alot of fun with it.

Well, he is wanting to do just some mild stuff to it and not spend too much on it. Which is very unlike him! He is thinking just a set of Radir wheels and whitewalls and a nice drop. He found a set of Fat Man spindles for it, but was wondering who else made them. Any ideas? Also, what is the best way to go about converting it to 12 volt from the original 6?

LOL! That guy is my buddy that bought it, not the farmer!! That is also his Pete in the background. Kinda funny, in HIGH school he had some sweet lowriders, since then he has had nothing but killer 4x4's and now 2 sweet Pete's, a BIT$HIN Harley, a bad fast Banshee and now this. I'm sure it will be cool in the end!
Anyone know where you can get parts for this thing?

Really, does it? The early hemis were right around that time period.

Wow-awesome story! It's cool when you can still find those "needles" so to speak. Not a lot of people know about this anymore but there is an older, retired street racer guy that lives right next to the fairgrounds here in Des Moines who still has and drives an original Yenko '69 Camaro. It's blue with white Yenko stripes and it's rust/accident free, but he pulled the OE 427 and put in on a stand and built a 454 for it and raced it like that up until around 1990. Now, it's just an occasional driver. 2nd syncros are gone in the original Muncie wide ratio 4-spd. so he shifts from 1st to 3rd now. I haven't seen it for about 5 years but I know he still has it...sitting in a dilapadated old garage by the fairgrounds. Still looks good though. -Jabin
