I believe there's one behind the heater box on the firewall.

Or at least that's what the nice officer told me when he was checking the VIN on my Camino.

Does the VIN on the dash not line up with a 70 model year (sixth digit should be zero)?

if its a late 70 it will be a 71. DMV goes both ways. My 1st 70 was built 6/70 and it was a 71 according to DMV. My other one is 8/70 and they have it as a 70??? go figure. both have stampings behind the heater box (right or blower hole and underside of trunk pan right over diff.
