      Running amp and speaker wires

Would it be better to run them with all other wires under the sill plate, or is it better to keep them separate and run them along the trans tunnel? Not sure if the trans tunnel is a safe place since there is no channel there and it will get hot. I have them run with all other wires right now in the sill, but am hoping not to get interference.

      Thanks,

      Separate if possible

I have always been told to run the speaker and signal wires as far away from the power wires as possible, and if they must cross paths, make sure it is a perpendicular crossing to minimize noise. I had the stereo power going down the drivers side door sill next to the regular harness, and the rest in the opposite sill. Of course there may be shielding for speaker and signal that would allow you to run them in the same area as the power wires and not gain interference, but I am not sure. Check out the link:

Jeff, thanks for the link. Yes, this is why I was asking - on the driver's sill are all the harness wires, and I ran my main power wire and rear mounted positive battery cable on the passenger side. I figured the main power wire would produce the most interference so I stayed away from that (the positive batt. cable is only active when cranking so it shouldn't be a big deal), but that means running them with the rest of the harness wires on the driver's side.

But what are the rest of the harness wires doing, low draw lamps. I doubt they will have any real effect on sound quality.

Right, so I figured that was better than running them with the main power wire or running them along the tunnel where they're much more likely to get hot/damaged... Just wanted validation of my decision I guess.

You should run the main power and remote turn on down one side and the Preamp wires down the other then seperate the speaker wires to the middle for best quallity

Also Make DAM shure you have good grounds. You would be better off runing all the grounds to the same place (at the battery) and they are to BARE metal and TIGHT
Also make shure your alt has a good ground path to the battery and a good Pos pathway to the battery to minimize the annoying whine from ditry connections

Now adays, if your running quality twisted pair RCA's and good spark plug wires you really don't have much to worry about when running cables, I can't remember the last time we had engine noise in a car that was cable related.

The grounds in your car (factory ones more importantly) are the most important, especially when trunk mounting a battery.
