      Project 305

I have a 82 Z28 305 in my garage that I would like to build. It is one of those deals where I already have it, and I kinda want to be different, and maybe faster than all the 350 guys. So, heres the challenge: Budget, power. Boy thats not common huh!! My idea so far is, 30 over, moderate cam, 1.6 rockers, and small tube headers. Edlebrock performer manifold, 650 carb, gear drive for the wine. Please shoot me some ideas, besides to buy a 350, or 572, as I think this will be propelling my S10 down the street.

Nitrous is your friend. I watched a 1LE camaro dyno one time. He had nitrous and I think a couple other minor mods. He put down a hell of a lot of torque and pretty good horse power numers too. That was a TPI engine though. The TPI intake was originally designed for the 305.

If your gonna bore the 305 over just be sure to used forged pistons if you want to shoot a small amount of nitrous in there. I'm not gonna tell you to not build that engine. Just realize it has some major design flaws that limit its power potential greatly. It may cause you a lot of headaches/heartaches too depending on just how much you want out of it. Good luck.

I actually have that crossfire injection manifold that I listed in another thread. I thought about doing the dual small four barrel thing, because I am not ready to go injection yet, with minor bottom build. I figured it would be a good way to be different. Whats your take on this?

single four barrel will be plenty...and the stock crossfire intake only existed for a year or two for a reason...it was junk.

Anything can be made to work, but you'll have much more money tyed up in dual carbs and a crappy intake than you would in a decent intake and a single carb.
