Here is what i learned from the show,


1. Pay way to much for a rotted out car.

2. Farm out the tough work

3. Get free labor to do the rest.

4. Have a rich guy on hand at the auction who buys your cars all the time, in case no one wants to meet your reserve.

The show is boring. It shows the same stuff over and over again. They show the same sences three or four times during an hour show.

I like the fact that his second in comand guy seems to be an idiot, and has been for years ,yet he still has a job!

Doesn't even know if the car has disc or drums before he orders brakes.

I like the part were the same people buy the cars. I don't recall anyone else ever bidding or buying any of the cars. Take a look next time. Its either the guy and his wife or the goofy short older guy with the same flowered shirt.

I'm going to cut them some slack....it's their first season and it's a new series format. There were sure to be some kinks to iron out. Some of the cars I've liked. I think the Torino would have found a buyer if the interior had been customized. I understand the current interior was in good shape...but it was boring and did not go with the overall agressive look of the exterior. I thought GangGreen was pretty neat. But that Chevelle was killer. I wouldn't confuse these cars with the ones Barry does for customers, and the series format is not indicative of what they do there at Barry White's Speed Shop.

When he is building a car to take to auction, it is a car he is building for his customers.

I have to agree with others the show is way too boring and I stopped watching it ages ago.

As for Barry, he has an awesome rep, why degrade yourself on TV for a few bucks.

Are you saying the whole auction thing is just a ruse(sp?) and the people purchasing them at the auction are actually the owners? What about when they don't sell....is there still an owner waiting back at the shop to take it home? Are the ideas not Barry's but rather what the customer wanted. Like for instance...GangGreen was a car that somebody wanted and commisioned Barry to build it for them. Am I understanding you correctly?

No, what I am saying is the same two people are buying the cars. Every episode I have seen, there is either a big guy with glasses, and a cigar that buys it, or the middle aged guy and his wife.

The only one that didn't sell that I saw, was the torino, and I think those people were the ones bidding on it too.

Its reality entertainment. I have to say its not for the money directly. Its free advertisment and maybe product endorsment.

I like to try to remember that people on these shows are human just like us. We make mistakes and bet the camera is only going to get the bad side.

Its funny how some respect someone till a show comes out and they are depicted in a negative light or do something that person doesn't like. Its real life entertainment...thats badly edited...have you watched that John Force show? yikes

I have had the pleasure of seeing the old shop of theirs, it was right next to the Popular Hot Rodding offices. I actually got to go into the storage and see Project X before the last redo, and the Tech area that is in the magazine at times. The Tech area was at the back of the street rod shop at that time. The owner who is on the show was kind of a jerk to us then, but then again it could have been a bad day, he does seem to have his share.
