Wow. You can be sure I'm never buying GW parts if I can help it.

      Ordered GW body mounts

Holy crap, this is not good to hear, since I just got off the phone about an hour ago with GW ordering up a set of solid body mounts for my 80 TA.
They were very helpful, explained their technology and some install tips.
Fortunately, I am not in a huge rush to get them installed (hey, the car's been rolling on the stock bushings for 26 years), but it would be nice to get them in and try it out before winter.

I will try to give you guys an update when I get them and let you know.

I have ordered a couple of times from them, once for the front end stuff and another time for the del alum leaf spring bushings, and I don't remember having to wait too long..... I have had problems trying to get on the phone with them though. Very happy with my purchases from them.

I can tell you all from experience that telling customers the actual time extended by a week will keep the customer happier. Delivering early based on a realistic date does more than just keep customers happy, it stops them from calling. If they would add up the phone bill if they are running an 800 number they would realize that it is killing them in their margins and they have to pay someone to talk to you, It adds up more than they realize. People understand about waiting for parts and most are just happy that they are being offered what they want for their car.
I wonder if they are a little insecure about the competition and think they will lose a sale? Whatever it is ,you can bet it is an emotional problem that is easier to deal with than the actual calender on the wall. Late is late and it is their choice as to when it is late. When whoever is in charge realizes this things will change and it can happen overnight. I know because I have seen it happen. What a difference it makes in a business when you don't have to answer angry phone calls anymore. The extra time that is left over gives even more time to talk to suppliers about your orders or the banker to get that 30 day note to cover extra inventory so you can make bigger orders and get better discounts. I could go on about it but it doesn't matter to me since I will probably never use their parts, but you guys who have may want to try letting them know some of the benefits of telling you the the truth.

Of coarse none of this helps them if they are being lied to and they just relay the messages but they still have the control and need to get a better handle on it.

I don't blame any of you for being mad and never blamed a customer that was told the wrong date for being upset. If they had to give discounts for being late they really pay attention to what is really going on but that will probably never happen. Maybe you could tell them that you will expect your parts in 8weeks and if they aren't ready by then you want free shipping. They might laugh but then again they might go for it and you could be a winner either way and not have to think about it for 8 weeks.

Goodluck and as some have said , KEEP Calling !!!!!

When we started talking to GW about carrying there stuff we went with a small buy in at first. Our salesman strongly suggested that we put more product on the shelf cause ,as he put it, just because where down the street, don't think you'll get your order in a day or two cuse we don't have product just lying around. At first I thought he just wanted to sell us more stuff..But I manage to talk the boss into another 3K. As it turned out the product started to take off and once we ran a backorder guess what... 3-4 weeks on average.
We upped our stock levels and on the hot movers and were okay now, but backorders can be 4-6 weeks approximately and I use that word loosely. I'd rather tell a customer 8 weeks and it show up in 6 and be a hero than to tell them 2 weeks and it be 6 weeks and be a Zero.

Ya know if it's in stock there aren't any problems. Doug (the owner) is very pickey about QC, so he won't hire anyone to build for him that he isn't 100% confident in. Unfortunetly this means that he dosen't have much help on the production line.
They really need to start producing more and only work through other retailers. The company has grown too fast for their own good in the last few years.
No one balks at AFR's 6-12 week waiting peroid, but they have been as busy as they are now for the last 15 years and know how long production actually takes

The difference is AFR tell you up front it will be 6 weeks, then surprises with early delivery.

thats the way global west should be. give you a lead time of about 6 weeks, and if your happy waiting, then wait. I called back again yesterday looking for my tracking # that they said I should have, and the dude had me on hold for almost 10 minutes only to come back and say that they were being boxed as we speak, that they didn't go out the day before. I was nice and said ok thanks. I'll wait till next wednesday to call, and if they tell me that they are still there, I think I'm gonna lose it. the lies can only take you so far.

wooooo hooooooo, called globel west yesterday, and after almost two months and numerous phone calls, my parts have been shipped. Got the tracking Numbers too, so I know they aren't pulling my chain. Just figured I'd update this to show others how long it took.
