      St. Ignace, MI car show

If anyone is going to be at the show this week end, me and four friends will be at the Budget Host at the north end of the strip. Stop on bye and say hi. We always have a cooler full of cold beer. Once traffic starts to back up our cars will be tucked away safe in the parking lot, and we will on the front lawn with beer in hand watching the activities.

This is also going to be the first bigger show my buddies 66 Nova will be out for. It's a black and orange two tone car with a LS1 and T56 as well as a C4 vette front end. It's a VERY cool car. (and I'm picky) It took best of show at a local show with about 300 cars last week end.

If anyone is going up I hope to see you there,

      Jason

Well guys the Nova won Best modified GM vehicle of show. Not bad for a car that was a bare shell in October. The award was given out the the GM Performance Division. None of them could believe that the car was done in 8 months, and that for the most part no one over the age of 26 worked on the car. The only parts of the car that were not done in house were the seat covers and head liner.

Very nice Jason, looks like a good time and tell your buddy congratulations on the win. The nova looks like it deserved the win anyway. Very well done car.

Thanks guys, I'll tell him everyone likes the car. He has been a lurker here for awhile now, but he spends most of his free time in the shop. Plus he's on dial up.

St. Ignace is a great spot for a car show. The show has gotten smaller over the last few years. We have thought about skipping it and going to another show, but we have a great group of guys at our hotel. We have been staying at the Budget Host Inn the last 6 years. Even if the show keeps getting smaller we will keep going if for nothing other than to see the friends we have made up there over the years.

yes, it is a sweet show but it used to be a whole lot better. the last couple years the cops have gotten out of control with there "authority" and thats why we dont go anymore.there use to be about 15 of us that went every year.....we decided not to this year. I understand saftey and all but its just getting rediculous. weve had our cars searched on the cruise night...they come to our camp sites harassing us about being loud, etc... its not as fun as it use to be......thats why the shows getting smaller every year.....

Your right, I heard some locals saying that the business owners lost so much money the last few years that they asked the police to calm down. I can say that we saw a lot less of the cops going out of there way to mess with people. They only went after the people that were being stupid.
When I first started going up there(6 years ago) you could walk downtown with a beer in your hand. It was more like that this year than it has been since my first year there. As long as you weren't load and didn't make it obvious they looked the other way...

Its cool to see a homebuilt car like that..Im 28 (started buildin it when I was 24) and have done EVERYTHING myself w/ some help of course!
The seats were uphostered by a friend but thats it!

The Butternut 67 is a bad ass car. I looks nicer than most of the show cars, but spends most of its time at the strip. It's a n/a 383 running 10.0's.
