      Darryl Starbird Show

We were making comments about ISCA and Goodguys and their entirely different interpretation of a show winning car. That beatnik bubbletop Ford or Lincoln that was at Atlanta WOW, Coco Hall Ridler, Jax Goodguys etc. It lost to Kenny Sarbu's beautiful 62 Chev. bubbletop at Goodguys Jax. he had a fit, jumping on Kenny and car builder Mike Bluett..Like it wasn't their doins. I just got my new Street Rodder and lo and behold he had won the big Kahuna at Darryl Starbirds big Tulsa Rush. They narrow it down to 9 cars, fine nine, then pick one..$20K prize..This wild looking bubbletop evening orchid colored, clear glass bubble top won it. The builder Gary Chop it Fioto is not only the builder of the car, but is also a past inductee in the hall of fame. Hell Blackie Gejeian just got inducted this year. Talk about a totally different way of looking at sh*t. I said all along the car had some excellent work in it but damn, it was just way off my radar on being cool. No wonder he was peoed. he'd won some big stuff..but then Darryl has been known to look at things from another perspective..he probably loved Posies newest creation too. I want to see how Posies newest does at this years street rod of the year..

      Hi Bob,

Speeking of Posies, how are they doin on their 65 on an 05 chassis? Might they bring it to Columbus? I really want to see it.

Also, I hope that you are planning to make the trip? I really think that you have a good shot at SMOTY. Wayne keeps telling me what a killer car your Cuda is. I really want to see it up close and personal.

The other day I asked Wayne if he thought we would get any consideration and he said "Not if BJ brings the Cuda".

So.... Maybe you should stay at home that weekend. Or better yet, I can loan you our cabin up in the north woods. That's it. You need some down time. You sound all stressed out. Go to Wisconsin. Take the boat for a spin around the lake. Go fishin. Hit the local dives. You will love it. Much more fun than a silly car show. :-)

These guys here are Panoz..Posies is the Old Time Rod Builder in Pennsylvania..Last time I saw Johan, he had been sidetracked and hadn't worked on the Mustang much..It will be a cool car but I seriously doubt it will have the fit and finish your car has. I will be at Columbus if the lord is willing and the creek don't rise. I would be at Chrysler @ Carlylse otherwise. They want the Cuda bad..were willing to pay good to get it there. I've lost the various Goodguys Top awards 5 times..I'm not getting any younger..and sure not getting richer..This Cuda is my swan song..come on down..you done spanked me once..

      Hi HRB,

Opps... I got my P's mixed up. :-)

And, as far as GGC goes, just come for the good times. That is what I am going to do. Winning an event like GG SMOTY is a crap shoot. Peoples tastes are so different, that you never know what they will do. That is why you had better have a good time when you go. Which, if you are hanging around with BJ, should be easily achieved. :-)

As far as spanking you once, I really don't think that you can consider what happened down at Year One as a spanking. It was more of a limp wristed b!t@h slap. You guy's deserved better than you got. Much better than you got.

With that said, we are coming locked and loaded. The gloves are off. The blower upgrade, detailing specific items and other finishing touches are all intended to resolve "issues" people have raised at various car shows. We are going to make our best effort, and I expect you to do the same. If, by the grace of God, we make it to the final 5, I expect to be standing next to you.

Personally, I don't see how they can possibly make up their minds at such an event. There are so many beautiful cars that are so totally different from each other.... It must be like comparing apples and oranges.

Take last year for example. The five cars that made it to the end were ALL worthy of the award. The Chevy II was fantastic, but my tastes would have leaned towards one of the other finalists.

I guess you just have to go with your gut. Personally, I would be asking myself, "If I could have any one of these, which one would it be"?

I wonder how much voting is for the builder and how much is for the car?

I was talking with the GG staffers about this at the 1st Plesanton event this year. Even then, they were dreading the SMOY picks based on what cars were going to show up. It's going to be some tough competition this year!

i dont understand what is hard about this years decision for smoy. the hard part will be 2,3,4 and 5 . for the cars i have seen this year there is no competition. there is no builder or qualified judge that can deny the cuda .

I think that the year one cup winner (the early chevelle) has as good a chance as any. It is a beautiful car.

Now thats is funny , the car wins the year one cup and you think it has the chance to win SMOTY , and the thing could not go the distance on the powertour? It was funny , they drove it into the events and when it was time to leave it went in a trailer to the next stop . I heard a report of the hood melting due to to much heat in the engine bay .

Nice car ? YES , but not my taste. It no way compares to the Cuda OR your car for that matter , No disrespect inteneded, only my opinion !
