      New mustang guy here

Hey guys I'm new here and appear to be greatly outnumbered by the camaro guys. I have a 79 mustang notchback drag car w/ a 86 front end or should I say use to have a 86 front end. On its maiden voyage down the quarter I managed to put it in the wall at about 90mph, crushing the front end pretty bad. Well the wife says no more racing(this is my 2nd car I've been in the wall with) so I guess I'm done. Well my dilemma is do I fix the car or sell it. The car appears to be salvageable w/ a little frame rack work and cutting everything forward of the strut towers. It started as a very clean car that has been backhalf mini-tubbed so I have plenty of room for some big rear tires. One of my main concerns is the fact that it is a ladder bar car and I don't know how well it will handle on the street. This would be more of a fun cruising car than a auto x'er or open track car so it would not have to be an extreme handling car, but I would like it to handle at least as well as a stock type suspension setup. So if anyone has any input on this please share you expierences and knowledge. Also just to let you know the car has a mostly stockish 429 and a c4 that I would be looking to swap in favor of a stickshift. So if anyone also has input on what manual tranny would work best behind a mild bb engine I would love some input there as well. Thanks guys for any info you can give I'm open to any and all opinions. BTW I attached a pic of the before wreck. I'll get a pic or two of the carnage here soon, I've just been too depressed to go out and look at it.

Very cool car! Sorry to hear about the mishap on the quarter...
I would love to do a fox body in the future..dont tell the other camaro guys

If it appears to be salvageable, that gets my vote. As you make progress, you can better decide whether to sell or part out.
Then the financial part is aways there...
Look at Tremec TKO 5 sp - not sure if the bolt pattern is correct for a 385-series (?)

      Good luck with your decision

Thanks for the compliment. I figured it would get a tremec tko or 600. I need to get ahold of them and check on fitment. I'm sure they have something to fit a big block. So if anyone here has ever done this swap feel free to add your thoughts. BTW I will try to get some pics of the carnage today.
