      My first engine build....

I have been wanting to start an engine build and it would be my first.. I have not decided weather to build a rat or a large displacment small block.. but my question is what books should I look for.. I would like somthing with a step by step process with lots of details and tons of pics... Any suggestions??

HP books makes a Small Block Rebuild book that is pretty informative. There will obviously be a lot of info in there about restoring parts that you wont need, but it has a pretty good assembly section.

This is the best book I have seen for beginners

Just ignore the parts where he is talking about reusing bearings
