LS1/LS2 heater connections

The LS1/LS2 has the "In" and the "Out" side by side. I am connect a Vintage Air system to an LS2. Which port is "In"? Which is "Out".

I would assume the one closer to the front of the motor is for coolant to return from the heater. The port closer to the rear of the motor is the supply line for the heater (before the thermostate).

Please confirm.
