Per Jaspata's lead I went to the detailcity site and did a search for "water spots".
Several of the professional detailers recommended DP high performance glass restorer.
I got on line @ autogeek.com (cool site) and ordered a bottle of the product.......and some Stoner invisible glass spray....and some micro fibre towels...its just to easy.
At any rate I will keep everyone posted..

Tried the DP High Performance glass restorer as recommended by several professional detailers on the detailcity site.
This product is citrus based and has a mild abrasive.
Used a mf towel by hand at first with no results so went to the Powerball still no luck....
I worked about 1-1/2 hours on a 6"X6" section of the glass.
      These water spots are brutal.
I will make a few calls today to see what I can come up with.
I really do not want to be forced to replace the glass!

Just try the CLR.... It works. It works freakin' amazing! Just remember that it is an acid, and protect your paint a nd flush everything well and you'll be fine.

      Shiny Side Up!

      Bill,
      I did try CLR.
However I will admit I maybe did not give it a fair chance.
I used it very sparingly and with extreme caution as I was afraid of damaging the paint...
I will try it again with a some more intensity.
      These spots are driving me

Scott - If the CLR scares you with the paint issue, give the Nu-glass a try. I am so confident in it, I will send you my bottle and buy a new bottle to replace it. Will not damage the paint and can be used by hand or, as I do, an orbital buffer with a foam pad.

      Mark,
      You are to kind!
I am willing to try anything at this point.
I imagine what we are dealing with here is a car that sat in the blazing sun of the Southwest for who knows how long and was subjected to an occassional rain storm followed by the hot sun.
Where can I order/buy this product?

Scott - I get to clean up the local street rod shop stuff and they recently had a '67 Dart that had what you are referring to. While it took some elbow grease (this was before I tried the orbital polisher), it all came off to everyones satisfaction. We also use it here at the dealership. Hot sun after an afternoon thunderstorm in South Carolina will create some spots. It works like a champ. You should be able to get it anywhere that sells Duragloss products. I am looking at a bottle right now and was wrong earlier when I stated the item number. It is Duragloss Nu-glass and carries item #755 and is manufactured by Brother's Research Co. in Burlington, NC. If you can not find it, drop me a PM and I will make a bottle appear on your doorstep. Hope this helps.

How long did you let it soak???? I cleaned all of the water spots off of 30year old glass witht he stuff. Wierd. Water spots are calcium, the acid should eat it off. You need to let it soak a bit though, can't just wipe it on/off like glass cleaner.

Sorry this didn't work for you, I was sure it would based on my success. I used bronze wool when I did mine, so it wouldn't scratch the glass. Not that 30 year old glass doesn't have its share of scratches.

      Sorry it didn't work!

      Bill,
Thank you for the advice I did let it soak for about 15 minutes...
Don't feel bad these spots might very well be permanent....
      Mark,
Thanks for the info on Nu-glass. I will conduct a search and get some ordered...

Steel wool or SOS pads work perfect. Razor blades work too. Not as scary as it sounds.
You can also try Mothers aluminum polish. That stuff works on everything.

Well I finally got about 90% of the water spots out

I ended up going to a local glass store and they sold me a
a bag of pink powder for $5.

It came in a brown paper bag as they must buy it in bulk.
I was told that it is similar to a jewelers rouge (sp?)
      Mild abrasive.

I made a paste with the powder and water and used a
mini powerball and a variable speed drill..Very time consuming but it did the job..
Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
