Offroad only vehicle

I live in California and I am considering turning a bunch of random parts + a car I have sitting around into a car to take to the drags.

What do I have to do to use this car "offroad" only?

Unless you know of some way to register it to drive back and forth to the events with a setup that will NOT be smog legal.

Hi Jason,

you can register it as a special use vehicle. And it is a tow only deal. Most cops won't hassle you if you have all the papers.
If its old you can do a historical vehicle register on it. No smog required as long as the milage is low.
