If you are interested in a TH400/GV then go 4L80E. It is essentially a TH400 with overdrive.

The price of a 4L80E conversion is comparable to a that of a TH400/GV. Still more expensive probably, but the ability to tune the electronics is damn near priceless.

Very good combination if you have the money!

A well built 4l80/85e will provide similar results for less money and you will be able to tune the transmission to suit yoru vehicle and driving habits.

Powerglides are used ALOT in rockcrawling and circle track cars. They are definitely NOT a drag only trans. Very versatile and work well if used and built properly.
