Will a LS! style air conditioner compressor work with an old style A-C unit? are they R12 compatible?

There is a couple of posts at here and at www.ls1tech.com. Try a search and call Vintage Air. I'm pretty sure you will need a new compressor.

It depends on the age of your system. If it is an '82 Camaro, you could use the ls compressor, but you will have to switch to 134a. You'll also benifit from an upgraded condenser. Make sure you have the evaporator professionally flushed before swapping.

If you have an earlier system or an aftermarket system, its a no-go.
