Does anybody make this size in a good street tire. Can only find competition tires.

Never seen anything other than autocross / track tires in that size, too bad. Are you stuck with 17"? If not, 295-35-18 would have similar overall dimensions, if that's an option.

No, I'm not stuck w/17's, it's just that I want the widest look possible w/out minitubbing. I've rolled fender lips quite a bit and now have 13''-13 1/2'' (13'' being the narrow-ist point)and I think a 295/17 would look a little wider than a 295/18. It just pisses me off that all the tire manufacturers make 235,245,255,265,275,285 and then jump all the way to 315 in 17'' dia. tires. Yet, they do make 295's for strictly track use.

I think it's just a matter of volume of potential sales. 275/40/17 is very popular as an OE size, and 285/40/17 was used on some of the mid-90s C4 Corvette rears. Then 315/35/17 is the next one used as original equipment, nothing in between the 285 and 315 was ever OE in 17" in any great quantity that I'm aware of.

Racers are always looking for a bit more, that's why you'll sometimes see the oddball sizes in track tires that you can't get for the street. For example, Hoosier made 275/45/16, for guys wanting more than 255-50-16, that were limited to 16" wheels.

My suggestion would maybe to have a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 285/40/17. Most of the D3 tires have a very big look to them for a given size, especially from the way the sidewall is shaped. And they are absolutely awesome performing tires. The specs show as 11.3" section width mounted on a 10" wheel, with a 9.9" tread width, and 26.12" overall diameter. What width of wheels were you thinking of using?

      cheers

If I could get 295's in a 17 dia. wheel, I probably would go w/10.5, possibly even an 11'' wide wheel. 295/40's would be a little tall. Would more than likely go w/295/35's. If I'm stuck w/18's, I will probably go w/10.5'' wide wheels and a 295/30/18.
