R-rated tires, which ones do you use?

I'm about to get new tires to this season.
The car is used as a track day car and some road driving (about 60% road, 40% track). I still just have one setup with wheels, and I won't go for another setup right now since I don't think it's necessary.

Anyway, are anyone in here using R-rated tires for the track? What do you think of them?
Anyone with experience of the new Nitto NT01?

Come on, give me your opinions...

I have the Toyo RA1's (same as Nitto w/different tread pattern) on my car and love them. It's mostly street driven but has been on the track several times and they work great. I think the Toyo will be a better street/track tire based on tread pattern. Check it out.

Where did you get the Toyo's?

How many street miles did they take?

Do your r-compound tires get too many heat cycles from driving on the street and not grip as well on the track later in their life or is it unnoticable? On race cars you tend to notice the tires getting harder with more heat cycles.

You're not building up enough heat on the street to have to worry about that. At least not for me. I haven't been to the road course lately but I did just take them to the drag strip and they hooked well. Look at the 57 Chevy video in the Racing section and you'll see my Mercedes on there with Toyo RA1's. I have about 4k miles on them and they've been to the drag strip 3 times and Summit Point (road course) once. They still work well all though they are looking a little bald right now.

4k miles? I thought it was possible to at least get 8 or perhaps 10k out of them with just street driving?

Anyway, I'm looking for consistent tires and not like street tires that tends to get slippery when they get hot...

Like I said, I've been to 5 or 6 different track events. Look at this video and you'll see why only 4k miles. At this last track day, I made about 12 passes just like this. Let me know what you think.
