      old rookie

      Hi Guys,
My name is Bill Howell and I guess I'm the "new kid on the block". I'm 46 years old and always been into cars. I like the old school train of thought but am intrigued with pro-touring. I own and restored a 69 SS Camaro 396/325 4sp matching numbers car. I hate to say it but I have so much invested in that car that I hate to drive it much. I too old to know how to post pictures but I will get my wife to post some tomorrow of the camaro and a new project I am just starting. It is a 80 malibu-72000 mile one owner little old lady plain jane car that still has cold air and 19mpg 305 in it. I already have a 406sb andT-350 to put in it. I also have ordered a 9" bolt in to complete the drivetrain. I intend to put 17" Torque Thrust II's on it and freshen up the paint. The pictures will show the malibu to already have the wheels but they are off the camaro. Imput is welcomed and I look forward to meeting ya'll.

      Matt,
Thanks, I bought the malibu in St. Joseph,Mo. last Thursday. I will be calling on you for some tech questions I'm sure.Is that a steel cowl hood? I bought one yesterday. What rearend are you runing? I once built a 78 elcamino with a 454 but could not keep trans or rearend in it. That was 13 years ago though.

Here are some older pictures before I got the bumper on and changed the hood to the cowl hood now on the car.

      Bill,

Welcome! I'm always happy to see experienced rodders join us over here. Especially when they are more "experienced" than me (I'll be 45 next month). You're gonna love this place.

      Welcome aboard, Bill.

Thanks for posting some "body-double" pictures. At first glance, my wife thought your '80 was "Cranky" (her name for my '79).

(I think my baby brother wishes he was still only 46.)
