      Drag lites

ANyone here have any expierence with Weld Drag lites??? I had my slicks mounted today but they could not balance them because the welds have this ring insided that moves around.. it is where the lugs go through... It is just loose inside there and I don't know how you are supposed to geta good balance out of it... ANy Ideas???

Do you have tubes in the slicks? Sometimes they are harder to balance with them. On the otherhand the cone and wingnut on the wheel balancer should crush the center of the wheel tightly enough to prevent the ring from being loose. Check to be sure the right size cones or adapters were used.

Take them somewhere else! Run! ....seems like only experienced tire guys can mount/balance the Welds. I just recently had 4 mounted....2 with slicks, 2 with drag radials....only 1 person I take mine to in Omaha. I had a good friend with a repair shop try to rebalance my used front Welds last year (because an inexperienced guy didnt get them right) and he could not get them square on his machine, and told me they were bent. I took them to my regular guy and he had them done in about 5 minutes. Oh...and dont be shocked by a TON of weights. Slicks are not perfect.

I had them at a firestone tire and service place where my buddy is a machanic. THey tried to get them but that ring in the center kept flopping around so they did not get a true reading...... I was wondering if there was a special tool or trick u need to do to get them.... I was gonna run the tubes but one of the tubes was cracked around the stem so I decided to just run with out them....

I ran Draglites for years, only had them balanced the first time the tires were mounted. I would take them to a wheel/tire shop, I know that the plate inside the lug mounting surface moves, but should not be an issue for an experienced shop. I never knew actually why that plate was loose, more of a pain when mounting for me. Anyway, worse case, call Weld Racing, search weldracing.com.
