      Wont run right.

      how willl a car run, if at all with the distributor 180 out..sbc hei

      If you even get it started it will run very choppy as if it were missing....and when you think about it, it technically is missing I guess if it isn't firing at the right time.

      If you think its 180 out, then just pull the cap and see where the
      rotor is pointing in relation to the number 1 terminal. if it is 180 out, then undo the hold down and rotate the rotor 180. Or an easier fix would be to re-run the cables to match. You would need longer cables most likely.

      Easy fix, don't fret.

      thanks..thing is..it runs great at idle, just rattles a lot like its got water in the gas (it doesnt) under acceleration..

      At what RPM are you idling at? Might be too slow. What about a vacuum leak. If there are no leaks you will have a nice smooth idle. Any little leak will affect the way it idles.

      Is this a vac advance HEI, or an aftermarket unit w/o an advance? What is the idle / full timing set at?

      What do you mean 'rattles alot'? describe the symptoms with more detail.
