Thanks for the reply. Last time I replied to this thread was in March. I've made some more changes since then. Prices are still the same pretty much. I'm still trying to be priced competitively and priced low enough as to not alienate anyone. I have been consistently working with shops on multiple projects but I do still take on projects from individual customers as well. Not to mention I'm still working steadily at my day job 40+ hours a week. I try not to get burnt out and keep everyone happy, but it's a balancing act for sure.

I suspect Kris will soon become more selective about projects, I also suggest he raise his prices (except to me of coarse) which will thin the work load. It would not surprise me at all to see him picking and choosing doing most of his work only for builders or really interesting high profile projects.

Sounds like this guys money was funny. I did not think Kris was a take the money and run kinda guy.

I find it hard to believe that the world class artists/designers that are members of this forum would knowingly deceive anyone. In my brief communications with many of them, I came away saying, "that guy is a class act". Especially knowing that I'm the new kid on the block in this industry and I need to prove myself. We are all busy guys and we are overwhelmingly appreciative of your loyalty, support and refences. The last thing we want to do is let any of you down. I catch hell from my wife for not coming to bed for days on end to meet deadlines, I'm an insomniac. Bad press spreads like wildfire on communities like this. It's the same as builders. Kris' situtation seems to be more of a communication issue, common in any personal and professional relationship. I don't know the details of what happened but I hope all parties involved can come to an agreement with no hard feelings.

In the grand scheme of things, many of us try to price ourselves so that it is worth it to invest in our services first to avoid costly mistakes in mods and paint choices, two primary elements of a sucessful and eye-catching project. Some could make the arguement that we are competing for your business, but that's not really the case. There is so much work available in addition to this great pro-touring community and so many preferences of style that it's not exactly cutthroat. I've actually handed off a couple clients to other designers that I felt could fit the style they were going for better than myeself. Others have done the same for me.

Cmon guys....cars are supposed to be fun, even if they are business!

Well said Ben. Same goes for just about every artist I've met in the past. We're all pretty down to earth I think.
