Which engine/light harness should I buy?
Ok, I have the entire front clip off my 68 Camaro. I'm installing my WD C4 subframe, a new engine, and basically cleaning everything up. Hers's my question: I want to replace my original engine wiring harnesses. My car was originally a 327 car with warning light gauges. I have always run mechanical gauges in the past, but I am considering using a Covan's dash panel w/ electric gauges and their gauge harness to make things simple. I've been looking at my Classic Industries catalog. They offer 2 harnesses for my car (one for factory warning lights, one for factory gauges). Which one should I get, and does anybody know what the difference is between the two? Will the factory warning light harness wires work with the autometer sending units? I'd assume the autometer gauges simply take the place of warning lights. It appears the factory gauge cars used a mechanical oil pressure gauge, so a sending unit wire is not part of the harness. It seems as if the warning light harness would be a better choice. Anybody have experience with this? Opinions?
