      Bullit mirrors pre and post

Changed from chrome to bullits. Remote on the drivers, a very functional convex on passengers-BIG diff in function! Now I can see well with the right mirror

GM Sport mirror, I think 71-80. see the Thread in Project Updates " humble 69". I think they improve the appearance a little. Yes, had to play with the mirror gasket. There are different gaskets for those same mirrors during those years and I had Camaro and a Firebird gasket and I don't recall which we used. Maybe a Chevelle gasket would fit better-I don't know. But it wasn't that difficult to make it work. Some 69's came with a remote chrome mirror so I believe all had the hole in the door from the factory- mine did.

Very nice subtle improvement over an already nice car. Those mirrors do look very similar to Chevelle mirrors.

Yes they have different gaskets...but that's only the beginning.

Chevelle mirrors have two threaded studs on the bottom of the base that go threw the door and use nuts on the inside of the door to mount the mirrors. Also they stand a bit taller than the second gen Camaro mirrors.

Second Gen Camaro mirrors use a bracket that mounts directly to the door, then the mirror mounts to it...personally I like the Chevelle mounting much better.

Thanks awr68. I thought maybe, that I had read a discussion that the Chevelle's were different -maybe a little taller but I didn't know about the attachment difference. Mine were off a Camaro. Apparently Camaro, Firebird, Trans Am, GTO were the same. Saw a 71 GTO yesterday and they were the same. I like the convex mirror on the right, it allows me to see much more of that view, the old glass was practically uselesss.

Easy to tell the differance, the camaro mirrors have an exposed mounting screw on the rear side of the base just above the gasket...the Chevelle (and the other GM models) don't have any exposed hardware....

      Just FYI

If I remember correctly back to my 72 442. You could take the mirrors off by one screw on the back (mirror side) base to remove the whole mirror. Then would have to unscrew the bracket from the door.

Can you please tell me if these are the right mirrors to use on my 69 Camaro?

Yes, they are if you want the look of the Mule's mirrors, and they appear to be priced well too!! Remember they will take a little reshaping (grinding) of the base to fit your door....
