Smooth Firewall & BB Chevy

Does anyone know if a big block will fit in a 69 camaro with a smoothed firewall? I have seen many SB and ls1 in a 69 with a smooth firewall, but can't seem to find any references to a big block. I plan on using a the correct BB engine mounts and a MSD distributor for clearance, but it sure would be nice to know the thing fits before I get done. I only have SB now and don't want to order the BB engine until later (still have a long way to go before that point).

I cant tell u 100 % it will fit but I do know i had a BB in a 69 with merlin tall v/covers and an msd dist and it fit fine. And im building a 69 right now with a 496 inch bb in it and have my DSE F/Wall plate right here in front of me so let me know if u figure it out b4 I do =)

06T'rex I posted the same question on Team Camaro and got 2 replys with pic's that it would fit. 1 even ahd a HEI ignition on it, which was tight, but it worked. So off to work I go. Thanks

i dont see why it wouldnt, the heater box and brake booster should be the places you run into trouble so as long as you keep the firewall where it is i'd think youll be alright.

I thought I'd heard of aftermarket distributor caps needing to be clearenced, but can't recall if it was on A or F bodies. Still nothing to be concerned about as far as a make it or break it decision on motor size. Big blocks have been going into these cars for a little while now.

We have a 68' and smoothed the firewall and I am using a DUI distributor in my 396....and it's close but it works...
