      New Best Et !!!

I made it out to the track tonight for some test and tune at our local 1/8 mile and I am proud to report that I have a new best et with my new combo... 7.68

      :3gears:

      Here is how it looked

      Reaction .097

      60ft 1.65

      1/8 et 7.68

      1/8 mph 89.44

      and a simular run

      reaction .114

      60 ft 1.6390

      1/8 et 7.69

      mph 89.13

      and one more to compair

      Reaction .097

      60ft 1.6399

      et 7.70

      mph 89.11

Overall I am very pleased !! The car is just running hard at the end of the track and I would love to run in a 1/4 mile... I think that I could click off some 11.80's or 11.90's ... The car leaves hard and never stops pulling all the way down the track... And I did all this on a set of mono leafs with no traction device and a set of 90/10 and 50/50 shocks... I can't wait to see what will happen after I get my cal track bars and adjustable shocks installed maby I can pull off some 1.5 or 1.4 60's.. I would also like to give an honnerable mention to my buddy Chris (130fe) as it would have been a short night with out his help.. Lets just say that I learned the value of a good battery hold down that first trip down the track....

My car has a 454 that made 563HP on the dyno with a turbo 400 and 3:73's with a 28" x 9" slick multi leaf.

      330 foot 4.781

I also want to put a set of Caltracs on my car but I am getting scared of twisting the car. I need to by a piece of junk camaro to drag race. I will not be putting a cage in my original Z.

Small block cars that go that fast make me angry!!

      Great job!!!

Mine weighs 3670 with me in it.

I think the big block with iron heads added a few pounds. I only weigh 165lbs.

We had a good time Friday night at the track. I know Travis was very excited about racing his car (running a lower than expected ET) and harrassing me about NOT running mine. As soon as I get them from my buddies GF, I will post Travis' temp battery "hold down" bracket. It is just another reason to wear a belt to the track. Pics to follow later.

VERY good ET...what carb and ignition?
What lift cam and is it hyd or solid roller?

      I have a similar setup on my 1968 with a 383 and AFR 195s and 10.3:1.
My last ET in late October 2005 when it was only 50 degrees out was 12.40 at 108...It wouldn't hardly pull down the track. When we got home and rechecked the timing with our timing light, it was pegging 44 degrees advance....doh....the advance limiter in the Mallory broke. Sent that to Mallory over the winter and they upgraded the advance and recurved it (for free ).
Since that time, we have advanced the cam 4 degrees and I ported the intake to match the heads (which should be quite noticeable).

I think my 650 Holley is due for the 750 Annular Mighty Demon replacement very soon.

Eighth mile best last year was 7.80 at 87.2.

The carb is a holley 750 HP series and as far as the cam goes it is a hyd roller with .560 lift in and ex .. I am using a full MSD ignition system from dist to 6al to wires... The car idles around town like a stock 305 and pulls 14 in of vaccume.. but when u take it to the track it pulls like crazy...

      P.s. thanks for the complments

I hope to make a trip down to Orlando in the near future for some full 1/4 racing... I will keep everyone posted

Looks like Funday Sunday is April 2nd. I am in the process of putting the street racer back together, putting the Chris Alston frame in it, amoung other things. So i will be itching to get it out

Travis is thinking about coming that Friday before.

April will be good for me, but since I'm 4-5 miles away anytimes good for me,

Except for last Friday when it was "Fun Ford oil down the track Weekend", I heard Friday was real bad, no runs for 3 or more hours. nice and slick!

Steve, You hear Bob killed his car? Bob says, Randy says, the most sensational wheelie in Speedworld history. I did not see it, but I guess he left on 2 stages 250HP each, 500HP, lol! Guess it almost went over, Bob **** himself, and it crashed down. Broke the trans off the motor. Broke the subframe, I am giving him my stock subframe, I am putting in a Chris Alston. I'm glad he is not hurt. Of coarse in the spirit of friendly rivalry, we was tuning it up because he heard we had my car in the shop, so I do kinda laugh. Oh hell, I am laughing a lot, we were laughing together!. He has always ragged me for running wheelie bars, wonder if he will have some now?, LOL! I hope not.

      Hey Frank -
If you or anyone you know wants a spare subframe, I have one from my '68. Someone would just have to pick it up.
