I saw the last one on TV the other night. Hilarious.

The make friends with you fast ones are great too. "Honey, it's kinda hard to hear the engine with all that yappin!"

The first one, where he says "representing for doitch-land" is so funny, I was cracking up when I saw that on TV. It's hilarious to see "v-dubs" making fun of ricers, more power to 'em.

Why is that? v-dub drivers are far from ricers for the most part. Check out my VBGARAGE for some examples: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/vb...do=view&id=821

I didn't mean it in that v-dub drivers were ricers, they are of the sport compact genre, though (similar). My main point was it's funny to see a major automotive company making fun of ricers, I would've made the same comment if it was a Honda or Chevy commercial; context not content.

I just wanted to make sure that, being the "dub nut" that i am, i wasn't categorized as a "ricer"

Ricers are the cars you see in the v-dub commercials-- anything from a Ford/Chevy to Honda and Nissans. The rest are "sport compact" or just performance cars (i.e. gti, sti, evo, srt-4, etc etc). Rice is an over-used term these days; most anything that is fast is respectable.

The cars themselves aren't rice. They are Euro. The nut with the red eyes in the picture on the other hand.....

A couple of buddies and I were bored and decided to go make friends with our fast () and test drive one of these new gti's.

      Cliffnotes of the test drive:
-The interior was really nice, supportive and comfortable seats, nice steering wheel and gauges.
-Decent amount of leg room in the back seat.
-Tranny was really smooth, but the throws were too long.
-The clutch was extremely smooth, too smooth in fact. It was really hard (nearly impossible) to feel the engagement point.
-The car revs really quick and smooth, which was nice (would be good for auto-x or road racing).
-The car is definitely not "fast", I was really not impressed with it's performance (though the handling was decent as was the ride).
-For a daily driver, it would be fun car to commute in, but compared to my '01 SS when it was stock, the gti was a slug.
-Slipping the clutch real high at every light during the test drive sure does make for a nice smell when pulling into the dealership.
-All in all it's a nice car; a little pricey for what you get, but a nice car.

      V-Dub in da houseee.

I think this is a trademark for VW. Every newer one I have driven in recent years has been like this. Its almost like you are just pumping your foot at nothing but air.
