      trunk boxing

I am about to start finishing the trunk area. I would like to box in the fender areas, install a floor and box in around the taillight housings, I would also like to enclose the area on either side of the small 10" subbox under the package tray and install access doors to most areas.

I need a few ideas on how to attach these panels to the car (press fit, sheet metal screws?) and make it look really good, this is my first time doing this. Thanks.

      -George

I made mine outta 1/4" "masonite" board, then the side panels have access doors to my battery on one side and the other is for cleaning stuff/tools whatever. It all kinda locks together and I put tabs on the floor and stuff to hold them solid. Not hard really, make some cardboard templates.

the doors are cut in yet in this pic...

theres some more pics in my link...

www.interiorsbyshannon.com definetly does some of the best work I've ever seen!!!!!!!!

yea i love shannons work, one day i hope to do work like that.
most of the time when i put a pannel in i buld the sub enclosure then build a pannel out of masonite or mdf then just hot glue it in place so if you need to take it out its not that hard too. thats just one of the many ways you can do it.

VELCRO can be your freind in places like this and not too much and not too little is what I have found with velcro. You don't want to bend the panels pulling them out if needed but you don't want them falling off either. So many different ways to do it and make it work it will make your head hurt won't it

That looks like a lot of really nice work. The only problem is the added weight. That must have added at least 300#-500# miminum.

x2 on the 1/4" Masonite. I also used "L" brackets to mount to the car. Epoxy and velcrow work wonders.
