key tumbler replacemant..

ok i bought a 70 chevelle..tumbler is trashed..is this the kind you take steering wheel off to replace or another way perhaps..??..i took wheel off but looks as though there is no way to get to it from the top..help!!!

You're referring to the key on the column? You'll need to disassemble the column, including taking the wheel off, in order to remove it.

See this page or more specifically this doc or this doc for some details on what you'll need to do.

Oh, and I moved this to Interior because it doesn't really involve the ignition system, just the keyswitch on the column.

ok ive gotten to the part where i have to use a screwdriver or pick to push the tab in to get tumbler out but it wont budge..the tumblert that is....anyone actually remeoved one of these before without using a slide hammer..lol..any help is greatly appreciated...
