      This site is absolutely fantastic.
I have a tremec that I just installed. And for the most part I love it.
I know tremec requires some pretty deliberate accuracy on the runout and I did not do it. I would like to know what I am looking for if the runout is off more then the .005? The tranny shifts really good. There does not seem to be any abnormal vibration. The clutch is smooth. I can go into reverse 99% of the time with any crunch. I have not yet really hammered it yet so maybe I am foolong myself? Once I did experience some really heavy vibration but that was going about 70+ and only for a second or 2 as I was on a 55mph road. Driveshaft?
I want to do it right and will buy a dial indicator and tear it down if I have too. But I would still like to hear what it could be like if the runout is bad.

I would think you are OK but if it bugs you, then you better pull the tranny and check it.

If it is out of spec, you could probably wear the pilot bearing and/or the input shaft bearings faster than normal, and in worse cases it could be sticky shifting.

Lakewood has some pretty cool bellhousing dowells out now. They have large wrench flats on them and they have a set screw that goes down through the middle of them so tighten them up in the hole once you get them where you want them.
