Hi everyone my names Brandon I’m 22 from the uk (Essex)

I have always had a obsession with muscle cars since I was a little boy but unfortunately as everyone will probably know muscle cars here in the UK are so hard to find

my dream:



all my working life and since I was around 13 I have been a mechanic and fell in love with the idea of restoring cars but not any old boring car here in the UK my absolute dream car is a 69 fast back, but I would want to restore one put all the blood sweat and tears into it, I want it to be a car I take my kids for a ride in on a hot summers day and to be the car I leave to them when they bury me in the dirt.

I’m joining this forum in the hopes someone out there somewhere will be able to help me find a mustang 67-69 to help my dream come true, I would provide updates, pictures the lot of the story and restoration of the car, I know the chances are slim being here in the UK but I will die trying if I have to

anyways I can’t wait to get to know all of you from what I’ve seen this community is amazing and I hope to speak to you all

Sounds interesting, but you might do better to buy a US Mustang and ship it over. I did a quick check at https://www.shipmycar.co.uk and it looks like importing one from Los Angeles, about as far as you can get from the UK and get a good one, would be 3634.85 pounds assuming the one you buy was valued at 5000 pounds. Of course, I don't know what your budget is so just pulled a number out of my backside to see what the rate would be. You can run your own numbers. They also take care of all the licensing work to make it legal there if you want, and I selected that as part of the deal for the 3634.85 pounds. Disclaimer, I've never used them, they were just the first hit on a search.

I don't know if you would want to keep it stock, but the running gear out of a 10 year old Aston Martin would be pretty slick in an old Mustang.

Hello vimes, thank you for your comment and taking the time out of your day to help, I really appreciate it. I’m definitely now going to look into this and see if I can make that happen, I guess now I will have to try and find an American website to look for a mustang that over there in the states and work out the shipping cost when I get a rough idea of whereabouts of one.

I would love to definitely mod it in some way but hopefully if I find one with the V8 I would to keep the original engine but just beef it up and maybe modernise it and tune it up although the Aston Martin’s idea is a really good idea as it would be a cool mash up of British and American power ! Certainly something I’m gonna think about because it’s such a good concept.

No worries. I'm a HUGE fan of Top Gear when it was Clarkson, Hammond and May, and I recall in one of the episodes they were able to buy a perfectly good, running vehicle for a pound that had been traded in to a dealership. The cars were expensive and powerful when new and had quite a lot of life left in them but due to your laws the dealer would have to pay 300 pounds to recycle. Or, sell for a pound and pocket 299. Something with a decent drivetrain but was otherwise crap would be a good source and you might even be able to transfer the dash over from the donor for an easy right hand drive conversion if the donor is close to the same width.
