Ffor those who have done it, what is the long term effect of looping a power rack back on itself and using it as a manual rack? Does it need any sort of reservoir included to work properly?

if it has oil in it, the pistons will work against you so it's going to have extra resistance. Looping the oil lines will probably make it a little worse.

Can you make any recommendations on how to go about this? Ideally, a full manual rack that will bolt into a C5 Corvette with a 1 3/4 to 2 turn lock to lock is what I'd like for this project. I'm doing an EPS conversion to both remove engine drag and move weight towards the rear, so my project will actually have power steering. It just won't actually be on the rack itself. There was a company called ECS that was planning to release a manual rack for the C5 but they changed their mind on it.

Thanks Donny, that gets me halfway there. Other research shows that a C6 rack will bolt into a C5 (more or less) and a 2009+ unit is the preferable one.

I think I'll just start by converting a rack to manual and see where it sits, and if I don't think it's quick enough I can send it off for a ratio change. Supposedly the frame guy has started on it, we'll see next time I go down.
