      Flowmaster 50 vs Borla S-Type

LS3 with a btr stage 2 cam. I always liked flowmaster 40s but I am in a different mindset now and dont want it so loud. I am looking at either flowmaster 50s or Borla crate S-Type. Anyone have experience with either of these? Was planning on full length 2.5" with x or h pipe.

Borlas always give me a splitting headache after an hour's driving. If you want it quieter think about a Flowmaster 70. Or, if you want it to sound better look at Chambered Classic mufflers. They're a bit loud when you're in it, but they quieten down when cruising and sound phenominal on a V8 with duals. If the tone is right but it's still too loud, 12 inch glasspacks after the axle will cut the sound and kill resonance without changing the tone.

I just went though this process. I installed a pair of 20" DynoMax, SuperTurbos and loved the smooth, throaty sound, but with headers and a lumpy cam, it was just too loud. My solution was a pair of 12" resonators from Vibrant grafted into the tailpipes. Retained the throatiness, just reduced the loudness.
