      Changing C5/6/7 Hub Register Diameter

      Howdy,

In swapping over to modular style spindles, you of course pick up the C5/6/7 wheel bearing which has the large 70.3mm hub register however my IRS off of a 92 Q45 has a ~4mm smaller hub register and there is a larger selection of wheels if you go down to 66.1mm (I'm also changing to 5x4.5in on the Corvette hubs to match). Is there enough meat to turn down the hub register by the 4.2mm needed (2.1mm material removal) or will it need to be shaved clean off above the rotor registration shoulder and a new sleeve be pressed in seeing as there is nothing in the middle of the hub?

      Thanks

I would use C7 hubs. I don't see any reason why you couldn't machine the hub snout down, leaving the rotor register intact, to accommodate the wheels. There is plenty of meat in that area.
