1968 camaro dash new/ old dash?

I think I messed up….



I had my car painted and one of the panels that was replaced because of a small amount of rust was the dash

im putting the car back together and I can’t for the life of me get the original dash pad back on it. As I’m lying under the dash I see the sticker from the dash mfg that says new style… is there a different dash pad I need to go with? The dash is too thick where it curves around for the original pad to seat onto it.
