Its an Iges file and its 27 mb. What now?

I got the file, however when I import it in SW2007 I only get the origins and nothing else. I've never had that issue w/ iges files before. Anyone know what gives?

When I read your post I remembered I had the same problem. I went back and found a more recent file he had sent me. I think this one will work.

I use Solidedge.
Here is my current project. I must have 10 different versions of this car in 3D, but this is the latest.

I have been collecting the parts and have just moved the body, engine, rear end and front axle into the shop.

How did John Monnin open it?
I believe it was created in Solidworks.
I had no problems in Solidedge.

I am running SolidWorks 2007 and the file opened fine. I copied the x_t file to a new folder, and the opened it in SolidWorks......

The motor, however, does not have the heads offset from side to side.

By the way, my SolidWorks 2008 arrived today.

I'm an idiot...it appears someone (probably ME) has been messing with the template paths, somehow that caused SW to crash. Anyway, it opened it.

I have a very rough model of a SBC engine case somewhere w/ tough heads on it. I'll try to clean that one up a bit and maybe substitute it. This model uses a single part for the block and the heads. It's ncie to have all the other parts though

You're exactly right! I never noticed. I got the engine from a guy in Canada, and just brought it in to my assembly. I was mostly interested in getting a general idea of what I was going to build. Never noticed the heads were not offset. Sorry.

I guess I am just gonna have to build me a big block Chevy (with offset heads, of course) and show those boys up there how its done, eh?

Looks like a quick change housing.

It is a Quick Change housing. We plan to start machining the housing soon. It will be an all-billet housing and cover.

The first verion will be a direct bolt-in for early rear-ends, then we will machine another version for new applications.
