Running L3 crate without A/C conected?

I am getting ready to install my LS3 crate engine into my 68 Camaro.

The front drive has the A/C installed already.

I do not have the Vintage Air installed in the car.

Can I run the engine with the A/C lies not connected? Will it hurt the pump to run it dry? This would just be for initial start-up. A/C will go in not to soon after.

      Thank you everyone.

The compressor clutch will not engage when the system is not charged so no problem.

You already have your answer, but just to further validate it, i ran my LS3 for a while without the ac system charged, once I did finally get around to charging it, it had no issues, and my AC is nice and cold today.
