Hdy Clutch Master firewall bracket issues

68 Camaro. I received a bracket that sits flush against the firewall and not bent out like the McCloud bracket. However, It does not fit. I trimmed away some of the bracket and stopped before I went too far, still doesn't fit.
I made a template of my firewall and overlayed it on the bracket and you can see how much difference there is. I was told my 68 Camaro holes are not where they're supposed to be. How can that be? Do I not have a 68 Camaro firewall?

I just did this on my 67. I first bought something wilwood told me to buy that was clearly not right.
I ended up ordering the McLoud conversion with a bracket like this but as you said is bent out at the bottom about 1"

After the whole set up was in the car, the clutch actually had just a hair to much throw so I added a washer behind the bracket, then 2 small washers behind the hyd master cyl. Now there is no issues and works perfectly.

I'd say you got to add some space there somehow or it's never going to work.

Where did you get this bracket? What are you doing for the pedal?

I knew it was a good idea to take pictures of the two pedals side by side with a tape that just happened to lay across the new pedal.

It's part of Red Roberts Hyd clutch conversion kit. He includes a pedal bracket that bolts to the clutch pedal. I broke out the grinder and made some modifications to the bracket set up.. here's where I ended up and what it took to get there.. It should work now.

Ouch that sucks, but I'm glad you figured out how to make it work.

Sorry for the multiple posts, I was trying add photos from my phone so you could compare.

McLouds pedal seems to have a hole, 1.5" from center of the pedal pivot to the center of the hole, and 1.5" from the back of the pedal to the center of the hole.
With the angle they have on their bracket.

If yours if flat, I would assume the hole is lower?

I actually thought it to be weird it's angled and spaced off the firewall. What about the gap it leaves behind it?
Sooner or later I'll do an LS swap in this car and at that point I plan to smooth the FW, clean up, and weld this bracket in.
I guess for now I'll just deal with the gap.

It looks like that hole the wires are going through is the speedo cable hole and not for those wires..

      You’re right. I didn’t notice that.
I ended up removing the speedo cable completely because the T56 has VSS.

I plan to order some VTX gauges soon. I called and they will read the VSS from the trans directly so no need to covert trans to cable drive just to convert it back for the gauges.

I'm running speed off of a Dakota Digital GPS module, the GPS-50-2 so no need for any input/output from then trans.

Oooo... I need that for my 72 as well. It has a smoothed painted fw.
Currently it has Autometer gauges that need a cable input I've never been able to bring myself to drill for a cable.

      Thanks for the info!

Here's a few pics of the Mcleod setup I used, took the pictures from under the booster.......not the greatest. I think you can see the speedo cable in the 1st one at the bottom.
