      oil pressure

I keep reading about people saying change the oil pump on a LS motor. As you know that there is no distributor to spin the oil pump over. Just filling the pan with oil and cranking over the motor will not usually prime the pump. You do need a pressure tank, or figure out a way to prime it. Never done it myself, but a friend of mine is a tuner and occasionally builds a motor when I am around.

I primed the oil pump using the procedure in the link, then cranked the engine with fuel pump off for maybe 30 seconds until I got oil pressure. Once I got oil pressure I then turned the fuel pump on and fired up the engine.
