      Dupont Chromabase

Can anyone tell me about this paint? Anyone used it? It seems real thin, how does it go on?

Its good stuff but expensive. I use it once in a while. I like to use Valspar too which is a little less expensive. As for how it goes on... it is thin but it sprays nice if you use the correct temperature basemaker. The clear is about like any clear I have used. I would discourage you from using their high solid clear. I think they call it glamour gloss? At any rate, it doesnt flow as nice as the 7500 clear and it doesnt buff as nice either. But that is just my opinion. Best of luck!
Oh yea...on a side note...I miss Indiana sometimes...usually the spring and fall. You can keep the winters.

Winters. Today it was like 65 outside, then by 5 it was storming and cold, and we had tornado warnings!

      Gotta love ohio valley weather!

Oh, and thanks for the info!

      Johnny,

It's the only stuff I'll use. I love the Dupont Chroma line. I believe if you search through the history you can find a few threads on some of the 'garage' paint jobs I did with it. The chroma base lays down really nice and is easy to work with. Also, I found that the matching Chroma Clear is the best out there for really making your car look 'wet' at all times. It's also one of the most expensive clears in the paint store. I pay about 900-1100 for all my paint materials each time I do a car, depending on color.

      Hope this helps.

I have used it over the last 10 years with great results. I like it enough that I don't even try anything else. 7500 clear is a little thin and requires more coats than a clear with high solids. I still use it though.

just look at my pic in the tool section under "installed new air compressor" to see how I feel about the paint. Dupont and BASF are all I'll use. Now, with that said, it's really a matter of opinion and what each individual is comfortable with.

Ive been a painter for 18 years I think dupont chromapremiere is a super product. This is the line above chromabase also a super product. Both would be user friendly but not wallet friendly! Please dont price shop at this point..

Actually I already have the paint. Just have not tried to spray it yet.

It may be expensive, but I got the gallon off a local paint stores clearnece rack for $30!
