Making my own Front runner system?
Hi!
I am thinking about making my own Front runner system. The idea I had was to make a kit like the ones Vintage Air is selling, but not to include anything but the pulleys, the big aluminum piece, bolts and brackets for the different setups.
The reason for doing this, is that I would like some options that I don't get with wintage air. First of, I'm not running AC, only PS and generator and waterpump. Second is that I want to choose my own colors for the setup, anodized colors ofcourse.
Now I need either very detailed mesaurments or complete drawings of either vintage airs FRS or similar, just to get som dimensions.
If any of you guys have that, please send me a message.
Also, if I do this thing properly, how many of you guys would be interrested in buying a kit like this? A kit with the essential parts, but you would have to buy your own waterpump, generator, powersteering pump etc. Or do you all want AC? If I make one with AC would that be interesting? choosing your own anodized color for the kit. and hopefully at a better price too.
please write in this thread so I can see how many would be interrested.
Thanks!

I have made about a half dozen systems for engines that are not covered by the systems already offered. You are going to have a tough time doing it without making custom pulleys. Especially the crank and water pump pulleys. The AC compressor in almost every case needs a special block for the freon to allow the pump to run right up against the block. It will almost need to be a full fit simply because you can't leave anything out and have it be a useful offering.

I think I must clarify some things here. I will be making custom pulleys for the kits. I was thinking about making systems for people who don't want AC but still want a front runner system. But if everyone wants AC then maybe I have to make a system for that too. but primarily no AC. Maybe I'll make a copy of the vintage air FRS, but with different features, like colors and some other shapes etc, then the buyer can go to Vintage Air and buy the compressors and stuff. fo a more Custom apperence.
I don't know, this is still just an idea, so if you have any request as to how this system should be, look like etc, please write this in this thread.
Thanks for the input!

12-29-2005 #4Guess I misunderstood your post. I thought you had not considered the pulleys. Post up pics as you go along. Its a lot of work to build them but fun. I am just getting ready to start one for the LS1 in my Nova. Althought S&P performance has one now that is pretty nice.
