      Camaro Steering box suggestion

Hope you guys had a merry Christmas,

I have a 67 Camaro that I'm making some improvements to this winter. Currently it has a Saginaw 800 box, that I rebuilt myself 20 years ago with a 40# valve from Lee. It still steers well, without too much play, but leaks and needs to be rebuilt again.
My question is, do I pay Lee the 400 bucks to work their magic on mine, or spend a little more to "upgrade" to a 600 series box from Turn-One, PSC, Detroit Speed.... Ect... Does the 600 series give more road feel than the 800 is capable of? Will the Lee rebuild make my 800 feel as good as it gets?
Cost isn't a huge factor but I don't want to waste money on a 600 series if there isn't much gain.
      Thanks for any advice.

I'm very happy with my borgeson 12:1 box. Very high quality piece for the money. While you're at it you should also upgrade to their u-joint steering shaft if possible.

There are many much more knowledgable people on here than me but I will give you my experience. I changed out a 12.7:1 800 box with a mid length steering arm that work ok for me to a Turn One 10:1 600 box with a matched power steering pump for my LS engine. This of course made a very noticeable change in the steering ratio, however I actually prefer the quickness and feel of the 10:1. This is very much a personal opinion of how I like to drive.

I think if you are currently happy with how the car steers and you are not making a big change in tire size, and/or an engine swap that changes your power steering set up or "since I was there" syndrome.

I would suggest you rebuild it again and maybe make a few small changes in setup, ie. valve# and/or steering arm length during your rebuild for better "fine tune" to your likes.

Thats my two cents. Cheers, Steve

      I have a 10:1 35# TurnOne SB2 with the Lee PS pump/reservoir and I couldn't be happier.
