Thanks guys. The PLA prototype should be here in a few days. I am really excited to check the fitment.

The stuff on the firewall is this:
      https://www.designengineering.com/heat-screen-36-x-20/

The downpipe was done by Header Shield. It is custom Inconel cladding with a ceramic barrier between the pipe and the cladding. It is formed and welded in place.

I think it's from DEI. They also now make it in black.

      Floor & Tunnel Shield II™ - 21" x 24" - Design Engineering, Inc

      Thanks for the info....

Your Inconel cover reminds me of SSME (Shuttle Main Engines) it was all over pipes in places,

I wonder how the floor shield would work in the inside of the firewall, or outside might be better, still wanting to the Cascade products inside,

We are living in marvelous times.

If I can only find the BOV in a box somewhere so I can confirm fitment....::facepalm::

Unless you plan to do a lot of printing, I see no reason to own a 3D printer. I use CraftCloud and let the professionals do the printing.

Here is the updates design. The BOV location was moved, the logo was moved, and there wall thickness on the little nipple by the compressor exit was increased (not visible).

Looks fantastic Andrew. I like how the BOV is more hidden. Question though, does the placement of the BOV matter as much as the placement of the wastegate? I know the wastegate likes to see more direct exhaust flow to be more accurate.

What 3D scanner are you using? I'm starting to look at handhelds for our engineering lab to do exactly what you are.

The placement is not as critical as the wastegate. It should be as close to the TB as possible. THe purpose of the BOV is to vent the pressure wave inside the intake tube when the throttle is slammed shut but the turbo is still spinning at high speed. By venting it close to the TB, the pressure wave is kept from slapping back into the compressor.

This looks really good, Andrew! That 3D scanner, does it work well? Are there lots of adjustments and settings to get correct before getting a good result, or is it just to shoot straight out of the box? Have you done some tests to see the accuracy of the scans?

      Thanks,
      Henrik

      Hi Henrik,

There is a little bit of a learning curve with the 3D scanning, but there are many videos on YouTube that were helpful. The laptop that I am using is marginal, so having a powerful computer would make the task easier. I have not done any tests to measure accuracy, but for what I am using it for, the accuracy seems to be good.

      Thank you!

Here is the second prototype printed in carbon reinforced PETG.

I like the new BOV placement and the slightly repositioned logo.

The next step is to have the final version printed in aluminum.

While the intake pipe is being made, I had my friend Blake design me another little part. He then printed some prototypes on his home 3D printer.

These are mounts for the fuel rails. They will be printed out of stainless steel.

Here is bracket that came with the intake manifold kit.

Thanks! These should be done being printed in stainless soon.

The 8HP90 that I picked up had a mystery converter in it. It didn't look stock and frankly I didn't trust it. So I called up Circle D and had a discussion about my requirements. Here is what they suggested:

This is their hybrid 8HP90 converter. Externally it is the same size as the 8HP70 converter, which is 1/2" smaller in diameter than a stock 90 converter, but internally it is built to work with the 8HP90 transmission.

Here you can also see the Domiworks bellhousing adapter.

      and the Domiworks converter adapter.

I have been using our $100.000 FaroArm we have at work, but even with such an expensive piece of equipment, sometimes it's not so easy to get a good result.
