A plug for Shafiroff Racing Engines

We called Shafiroff Racing and asked them what we could get out of a hydraulic roller cam, 540 ci motor that would easily run on pump gas. Their response was '700 hp'.

Well, we did the Brodix aluminum block, Dart CNC 335 heads, 10:1 compression, dual plan Edelbrock Air Gap intake, 950 carb, etc. The motor ended up making 706.9 HP @ 6,300 rpms and 650 TQ at 4,700 & 4,800 rpms. They definitely know their stuff.

This thing will spin higher, make more power, and is a ton lighter than the ZZ502 we just pulled out.

I would also like to make note that Mike there in their sales department is a pleasure to deal with.

      My best,

      Bryan

Who's dyno was the motor on?

I am not saying anything bad about shaffirof just engine shops in general.

I have heard of several shop's starting the dyno pulls at full throttle and then slowing the motor down this makes there #'s much higher. You also have to watch if they are using the correct temperature and bero presure just one more way they can make there #'s big.

If the car works properly the dragstrip doesn't lie.
Documented 302 Z-28 car updated restoration underway.

Bryan, If you don't mind me asking, what does Shafiroff charge for that engine? Please PM me if you don't want to blast the price on the board.

      Thanks,
      Dan

I know this is kind of an old thread, but what engine shops have you heard do this on the dyno. I am in the market for a new, dyno tested engine and would like to know who is trying to "cheat" on their HP numbers.
