      Rockabilly Fabrication frames

      Is anyone familiar with Rockabilly Fabrication? http://www.rockabillyfabrication.com/



      I'm interested in a frame for a '59 Apache, that'll let me install a C5 drivetrain and suspension. I've spoken to them a few times about a frame and their website has multiple pictures, but I can't find much independent information on them. I've scoured the web and have only come across one blog that mentions using their frame. Thanks.

      For the price they're charging I'd look at the Roadster shop chassis or speedtech performance might build you one.

      Thanks for the recommendations. Those prices are about the same for a frame with suspension and steering components, but I'm looking at just a bare frame. I have a complete donor car I'm trying to find a frame for. I'll try talking to those other shops to see if they've ever made a frame for a C5 drivetrain and suspension. The problem I've run into, is hardly anyone is doing this with C5 parts, everyone is making frames for C4 parts. I've spoken to a few shops and the reason given, is because of the width of the C5.

      I've measured 76 inches between my fenders and the C5 is 73.5 inches. So even if I give myself a 1 inch buffer on each side, I have 74 inches to fit the C5 parts. I'm sure there will be some challenges with it, but it looks possible. Aside from Rockabilly, I've only found Progressive Automotive advertising a truck frame to work with a C5. However, they want $19K for just a frame and coil overs; I'm just not willing to pay that much.

      I am stuffing C5 suspension and drivetrain under my 56 Cameo using the stock frame and adaptors from Dobbertin Performance. It’s tight but it fits. Had to have the torque tube lengthened. Here it is all mocked up at ride height. Going to run C6 wheels.

      This build is using C6 in an Apache using a frame from Progressive:

      Don, thanks for the info, your truck sits really well on the modified frame. I've seen Dobbertin's website and I'll have to consider them more. Did they recommend a modified rear cradle, or stock? What did you do for the front suspension?

      I am using the full C5 front and rear suspension/steering with front and rear Dobbertin adaptors. Both cradles are stock width. It’s a budget build so I’m trying to keep the mods to a minimum.

      Cool, I didn't know they did kits for the front cradle too. Could you post a pic of the frame with the cradles installed? Thanks.

      Its not complete and I don’t want to post anything until it’s complete with the gussets etc or someone is likely going to bag on me. It’s fairly crude, I added to the stock frame by adding 2x4 tube to make the members for the adapters to bolt to. Project is is hibernation while I finish up a couple of other projects. Hope to get back on it this fall and have it finished over the winter.
