      Ridetech Tru Turn clearance issuee

I have a 68 firebird with an LS2, T56 and air ride suspension all the way around. I’m using the Holley motor mount swap plates, Holley oil pan, Holley trans cross member and Holley long tube headers. The issue I’m having is that when I go to install. My Tru Turn on the drivers side the tie rod hits header when the wheel in the straight position. I also think it’s going to hit the passenger side header when I turn the wheel. Is my only option to concave in the header? Thanks in advance for the help.

That, or change over to mid length headers. Over ls1tech, people have reported similar issue. Apparently ridetech changed the design of the center drag link and it created some interference with the Holley long tube header, which was designed around the previous drag link design.

Hey guys, Thanks for being and ridetech Customer! On this issue there are a few things to rule out before changing the headers. When it is convenient for you, please contact me at [email protected] and I can go through the checks with you. I look forward to speaking with you soon

I ran into the same issue with my 1969 Camro build with LS3,T56,Holley motor mounts, trans X-member, long tube headers and 302-3 oil pan. I changed from the original Tru Turn setup to the new 1 piece drag link. The original Tru Turn worked fine and cleared everything, but when I installed the new drag link the inner tie rod end hit the header on the driver's side. Passenger side clears.

I heated with a torch until red hot and a few good whacks with the hammer it clears now. It really sucks to beat on a brand new set of headers but it's part of building cars sometimes. I'm sure Holley will make a revision to their headers before too long that will allow for clearance.

Yeah it’s a bummer to do it! Hopefully I can get out there this week and get it done. How much did you have to beat in the header?

Why did you replace the original Tru-Turn draglink?
