      t56 shifter?

What shifter do you guys recommend for the t56 trans? I have a Viper t56 that I am putting in my 86 Monte SS and am trying to dicide what shifter to get/ use. I have looked at the b&m ripper, hurst short throw, and the pro 5.0. Please let me know what you think. TIA

      Joe

Pro 5.0 from Power Tower is my #1 choice. It would be my 2nd choice too.

I've got the factory hurst short throw in my SS, and while it works well, it's nothing to write home about. I'd recommend the Pro 5.0 simply because everyone I've ever talked that has used it, loves it.

I used the Pro 5.0 and added a hurst stick. Looks great and works awsome.

      Pro 5.0

It seems everybody likes the pro 5.0. What model should I go w/, one for a Camaro/ Firebird, or one for a Cobra Mustang? If for a Cobra, what year?

      Thanks again,
      Joe

You neex to get the shifter for your style of T56. You can't put a mustang shifter on a Camaro T56.

So in other words, if I have a viper t56, then I have to get a shifter for a viper? The reason I was trying to go w/ something different is because the way the viper shifters come out of the trans and immediatly get a 90* bend. This puts the shifter right into the side of my console.

Shifter and shifter handle are 2 different things. You can get any handle you want.

I realize you can put any handle on most shifters, but the viper shifter is made differently than others I have seen. It doesn't have the two bolts that go through the handle and into the shifter. It comes out of the trans boot and does a 90* bend, and then it has a threaded hole for the handle to thread into it. Here is a link to the B&M Ripper shifter for the Viper trans.

My trans is a D&D Viper unit. Don told me to use a 2003 Cobra shifter on his trans. I did and man am I happy with it. Pro 5.0 rules.

You may want the new McLeod Slik Stix once you feel it and shift it.

It is a truly unique piece.
Just one more thing to consider.

Talked to D&D Performance today. They said that a Pro 5.0 out of an 03-04 Mustang Cobra will work on a Viper t56. I believe this is the route I will go with.

      Thanks for all the help,
      Joe

Does anyone have a part number for the Hurst Chrome Shifter and Whte 6 spd ball that will bolt to a Pro 5.0 shifter (for a Camaro t56).

      Thanks,
