One thing to consider with the new roll bar and novice welding skills is buy a inexpensive gas type 110 Mig. Tack weld the bar where you want it and then take the car to welding shop and have them burn it in good. Might be a bit of transport hassle but that's what I do. My welding skills are OK but I don't trust my skills with anything that might have to save my life.
