      LS3 or L99?

Came across an ad for an LS3 from an SS camaro but it’s an auto trans. Didn’t they only come as an L99 with the auto? Considering the combo for my 70 Camaro or my 66 Buick. How’s the hookup, mounts and tune compare to an early LSx package? Mounts, headers, etc?

The only difference is Variable Valve Timing & Displacement on Demand. The cam is a little different too.
It's easier to call it an LS3 rather than L99.
Hookup & fitment is the same.. some aftermarket accessory drives will not work with VVT timing covers. Also DoD lifters are not ideal, may want to swap them out. Pretty easy to get rid of DoD and VVT if you do want to convert to an "LS3" though. Just takes some googling

I had already figured on getting rid of the DoD function and heard that the lifters were a real issue. A little cam and a couple of tuning tweaks and it sounds like it could be a pretty good setup. Thanks, Bill
Oh, and he DID verify to me that it IS in fact an L99 motor.
